Cotton vs Polyester Caps: Which Fabric Should You Choose?

Cotton feels premium, polyester resists fading. Here is how to choose the right fabric for your next cap order.

Choosing the wrong fabric is one of the most common and most expensive mistakes in a first cap order. This short guide walks you through the practical differences.

Cotton

Breathable, soft and takes embroidery beautifully. Best for retail and brand merchandise where hand feel matters. Expect 2-4% shrinkage after washing unless pre-shrunk.

Polyester

Stronger colourfastness and moisture-wicking properties. Better for sportswear, outdoor use and humid climates where fading is a real risk.

Blends

A 65/35 cotton-poly blend is a good middle ground: it retains a soft hand feel while resisting shrinkage and fading.

Our Recommendation

Retail fashion — go cotton. Performance and outdoor — go polyester or a technical blend. Not sure? Ask us for swatches; we will send them with your quote.
